Petrykivka. Inspiration

The kit includes a decorative fabric featuring Petrykivka painting, created by artist Olena Ivanova.

Petrykivka painting is a traditional Ukrainian decorative folk art originating from the village of Petrykivka. Recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this unique style is known for its vivid floral patterns, graceful brushwork, and symbolic motifs inspired by nature.

Traditionally painted on household items, walls, and furniture, today Petrykivka designs are also used in textile, stationery, and decorative art.

Decorative fabric can be used for:

- decorating the mat (paspartu) around the embroidery (stretched over cardboard);

- finishing the back side of a pin keep;

- decorating a box (inside the lid or bottom);

- as a standalone art piece.
